How do I keep Win 10 from scattering my desktop shortcuts....

every time I turn the computer off?

I like my shortcuts arranged around the periphery of the screen. When I boot up in the morning they are shifted and out of order. checking 'auto-arrange' only shifts them all into vertical rows in the left side of the screen.

This has been discussed many times here- please see the long threads on this. Some users have been plagued by it, others not- and not just Win 10.

Right click the desktop, Auto arrange icons, Align icons to grid.

No, that doesn't help a bit. Checking "Auto Arrange icons" places them all (as I mentioned in my first post) in a double row vertically on the left side.

I have and have had "Align icons to grid" checked.

This worked for me even on my managed office PC. Uncheck the "allow themes to change" box under "icon settings".

Settings > Personalization > Themes. Click on the 'Desktop icon settings' link in the 'Related Settings' section.

I like my desktop clean. Nothing on it except what I'm working with.

I use the Quick Launch Bar.

All that setting does is allow you to control what system icons appear on the desktop. It has ZERO to do with arranging them.

Well It's working for me as with those exact settings shown. No idea why it's not working for you. I keep a clean desktop but I show this as an example that those settings work as suggested.....

That even with logging off, restarting, or powering down, and up again, they still remain in the same order and arrangement.
