    USB Folder Option Issue

    I recently ripped a movie using DVD/Fab and stored it on a SanDisk 256gb flash drive. I created a new folder and placed this movie into this folder. Then I created another folder and placed an icon depicting the movie poster. Back to the movie folder I changed folder properties and changed the icon to the movie icon I created. This worked fine and looks great. The problem is if I plug this flash drive into another computer the default windows icons are displayed, and doesn't show the movie icon I created unless I go and redo this procedure on the second computer. is there any way too solve this issue? Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

    Welcome to TenForums Tubtech.

    When you give a folder a custom icon this is achieved by writing a hidden file desktop.ini into the folder. This is a text file that can be opened in Notepad. When you open it you will see something like this.

    [.ShellClassInfo]
    IconResource=H:\Folder\Icon.ico,0

    Note that the path to the icon includes the drive letter. This will only display the custom folder if the usb has the same drive letter in every machine you use it with. To make this universal so that it doesn't matter what drive letter it gets on another PC, remove the drive letter from desktop.ini like this:

    [.ShellClassInfo]
    IconResource=\Folder\Icon.ico,0
