Hi, what happens when you click that? Do you see a search box? Or nothing?

What is your Windows build? Sadly it's not a forum requirement so we have to keep asking.

What happens if you click 'Show search box'?

Assuming you do in fact see the search box, please see

There are threads on this forum you can read- please search the forum for

If Cortana is not working, then reinstalling the app package for Cortana and re-registering Cortana may help fix it.

Reinstall and Re-register Cortana using the following procedure:

    1. If the Cortana search not working open the Windows PowerShell by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Esc keys, this will open a Task Manager.

    2. From Task Manager click on File from menu bar, and click on Run new task.

    3. Type powershell into "Create new task" input box.

    4. Make sure to have a check mark for "Create this task with Administrative privileges" check box and click on OK button.

    5. Execute following powershell commands one at time.

    Code:
    Get-Process SearchUI | Stop-Process –Force

    Get-AppXPackage -Name Microsoft.Windows.Cortana | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

    6. Restart your computer.

Cotana is not what the function I wanted. I also did not see this in task manager.
You have build 1809. In this build Cortana and this search box are closely linked.

I also did not see this in task manager.
    This refers to...?

There are other ideas in the link I posted, in particular see the reference to ctfmon.exe if the search box still does not work.

Please try to respond specifically to questions asked like the one posted by Freebooter. Thanks.
