How to register a file in W10?

Recent purchase PC running W10-64bit [1809] but still not yet ready for the 1903 update!

However...am seeing Runtime error 713 with a frequently used programme on other W10 PC
    "MSSTDFMT.dll missing"
File search on the new PC confirms the file is missing ~~~ copied from the other W10 PC and inserted into the new [sysWOW64] folder but still not running the programme!

I am now informed that I should have "registered" the file in W10...

Absolutely NO idea how to do this ~~~ would appreciate some guidance from you Guys.

    Thanks in anticipation.

This is the example given by MS for this particular .dll which often ends up in the root of C:\ and needs moving and re- registering, speech quotes are needed for long paths with spaces. It is best to find out where the application expects to find the .dll or put it in the paths used by Windows.

    regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VC\msdia80.dll"

Thanks for the quick response...but...how exactly do I register the file?
Not trying to be 'difficult' just not that tech-savvy!

The easiest way is Start menu, Windows System, command Prompt...right click the icon and choose run as Admin, then enter the command regsvr32 followed by the path to the .dll, so in your case the command would probably look like this :
    regsvr32 "C:\Windows\SysWow64\MSSTDFMT.dll"
There is a space after regsvr32, doesn't really show in these dialogues.
The above command should work, but to be honest I'm not sure that the .dll should be in SysWow64 folder, but I might be mistaken.
