No, fastboot is off. But thanks for suggestion.
FOR WYNONA
Reference your post 10,I was replying to WayneD,not you.Where abouts in the thread did you complain about win 10 media creation tool?
FOR WayneD.
Have you tried using mct to create a bootable usb, instead of Rufus?
I haven't complained about MCT in this thread; I was replying to WayneD's original post asking what the difference was between Aomie Boot CD and Rufus.
Since your post was directly beneath mine and Wayne wasn't quoted, I thought you were "speaking" to me, which is the reason for my reply.
FOR WYNONA.
Thank you.I only ever quote someone's name if it isn't the thread starter's,out of courtesy.
I've used the media creation tool several times to put Windows on a thumb drive and it works just fine. When I try the windows to CD/USB tool, everytime it gets to 99% and then stops with message can't copy files to thumb drive. Rufus will do the conversion successfully but you just have to disable secure boot for it to work. Maybe something in the Aomei ISO? Compared to other people's problems this is no big deal. I will just continue to use the CD boot disk. Thanks for all the suggestions.
Wayne
I've had 2 experiences with the MCT/Media Creation Tool and the USB Thumb drive process that are of note, one is the USB drive will automatically get reformatted to FAT32, deleting everything on it, and the other is not to use larger than 32GB drives as the process will create only up to 32GB partition on it [limit of FAT32] and if larger the rest of the drive becomes unavailable for anything else [accidentally learned that with a 64GB drive].
As afore mentioned, I've also had no problem with the Windows method.
Good morning, Joe.
But, but, but, how do we know who you're talking to? Ain't just a matter of courtesy. Looky whut jist happen't!
OK, Seriously, quoting makes it clear who the reply is for and what the subject is. We all use it. In fact, it's a matter of courtesy to quote someone when your reply is directly related to their subject.
Good morning, Wayne.
I've never used Aomei, so I can't speak to that, but until recently, Rufus always required a FAT 32 flash drive and didn't change that format. Now (in my case) it changes the drive to NTFS, which requires Secure Boot to be turned off.
Now to qualify that; this new PC (HP 590-p0044) has given me more grief than any new PC ever has, so it could possibly be something in the way HP has it set up. At this point, I'm not quite sure. I now have my Samsung EVO 860 SSD drive installed and everything HP is gone. That may make a difference.
However, having said all that, I'm not sure how or why you use Aomei to boot your computer. Are you, by chance, doing a clean install of Windows 10?
I use the Aomei boot disc to make my image backups. I don't have the full free Aomei backupper on my laptop any longer but the boot CD I made when it was on there can still image and restore my PC with no problem. It's quick and very easy for an old senior to understand.
