Booting secure boot PC from thumb drive vs CD

What I found is that in order to boot from the flash drive:

If the flash drive is formatted as FAT 32, I don't have to turn off Secure Boot.

If the flash drive is formatted as NTFS, I must turn off Secure Boot.

What seems to have happened is that Rufus now formats the flash drive to NTFS, instead of leaving it at FAT 32. Rufus also tells me the flash drive won't boot unless I turn off Secure Boot.

Have you tried using mct to create a bootable usb,instead of Rufus?

I haven't complained about MCT in this thread; I was replying to WayneD's original post asking what the difference was between Aomie Boot CD and Rufus.

Since your post was directly beneath mine and Wayne wasn't quoted, I thought you were "speaking" to me, which is the reason for my reply.

I've had 2 experiences with the MCT/Media Creation Tool and the USB Thumb drive process that are of note, one is the USB drive will automatically get reformatted to FAT32, deleting everything on it, and the other is not to use larger than 32GB drives as the process will create only up to 32GB partition on it [limit of FAT32] and if larger the rest of the drive becomes unavailable for anything else [accidentally learned that with a 64GB drive].

As afore mentioned, I've also had no problem with the Windows method.

OK, Seriously, quoting makes it clear who the reply is for and what the subject is. We all use it. In fact, it's a matter of courtesy to quote someone when your reply is directly related to their subject.

I've never used Aomei, so I can't speak to that, but until recently, Rufus always required a FAT 32 flash drive and didn't change that format. Now (in my case) it changes the drive to NTFS, which requires Secure Boot to be turned off.

Now to qualify that; this new PC (HP 590-p0044) has given me more grief than any new PC ever has, so it could possibly be something in the way HP has it set up. At this point, I'm not quite sure. I now have my Samsung EVO 860 SSD drive installed and everything HP is gone. That may make a difference.

However, having said all that, I'm not sure how or why you use Aomei to boot your computer. Are you, by chance, doing a clean install of Windows 10?
