File search from folders located on different drives

How to run single file name text string search with Windows File manager (explorer) from folders located on different drives?
Search result may be 0-100 files.

    Any ideas?

Perhaps it's possible to link folders somehow to look like one?

    How do you do that?

The easiest way is not to use file explorer. However, you can do that:

Here I put dummy1.txt on a USB drive, and dummy2.txt in Documents.
File explorer must be open at This PC
File search from folders located on different drives-dummy.png

    Note that syntax like
    file:dummy?.txt foldername:documents
restricts search results to those from folders so named, but unless the whole of each drive is indexed search will still be slow, as in practice it (inefficiently) searches non-indexed space.

Instead use one of the free 3rd party find-as-you-type tools frequently recommended on tenforums and easy to find elsewhere. But note these do not index content.

    I like Locate32
Others like Everything by voidtools (which I find uses more resources)
    Ultrasearch

These index all filenames across all disks (not content) quite quickly initially and maintain the index thereafter.

File search from folders located on different drives

    I have checked both:
    Locate32

    Ultrasearch

But I can't figure out, how to create single search request to specified folders on different drives.
    That is excluding whole drives.

Presently I need to include into one search drive E:\ and folder D:\1\ .

So I still need help -
    1. Is it possible to link folders together, looking like one single folder?
    2. Create a mapped drive with 2-3 folders folders only from different drives?

Hello, you can use Locate32 to do this by specifying two different folders in which to search.

File search from folders located on different drives-1.png

Notice the #2 - two locations (or more if you wish).

On this PC I've only one disk and partition. But clearly you can specify another drive.

You just have to make sure you have a current index before searching of course.

Using explorer search for this would be possible if everything was indexed (else very slow search), but you'd need to use a search syntax string to get results exclusively from two locations. This is inconvenient for repeated searches.
