Looks that way. So please don't enable Secure boot.

Tanya, when you did your clean install it appears you did not delete all existing partitions. Doing so means you get a real clean install.

I would back data up and then follow our clean install tutorial. Step 13 talks to deleting existing partitions. Obviously if you delete all partitions your data has to be off machine.

    Hi Ken,
It was a brand new drive. (it's only weeks old!). It didn't have any partitions. Do you recall you recommended I buy a new faster drive as my previous one was HHD and possibly faulty?

I do, most definitely, but that is strange because you have a partition labelled HP tools.

Yes- that got created when Zbook told me to install HP Diagnostics. It asked to create it's own partition.

btw- another 'clue' to this puzzle.
The system does NOT reboot when idle. It can be left for hours switched on and wont reboot

and seem to follow a pattern, either early morning (when i start using) or late evening and then usually multiple reboots

    Proper good news then
So out of all the things you have tried and changed. What is the most significant thing you have adjusted that has really made the difference do you think? Its been a long journey and really happy with your final studies

    good question.
Have kept a log in the last few weeks but it's very long...and sometimes i undid the thing i tried as it made no difference.
I have learnt there are a LOT of folk who have experienced this after installing either a win update or upgrading to win10

If I am honest I have NO idea whats behind my issue but bearing in mind over approx 8 weeks since installing win10 I've gone from 1-2 reboots a day up to 18 a day and now back to 1-2, and also bearing in mind during that time I even had a period of THREE weeks with NO reboots.... the conclusion is:

I am still clueless totally baffled!!

Did you "updated" from win 7 to win 10, installing win 10 over win 7?
There is nothing like a clean install, deleting all partitions and starting from a blank drive.

    I still suspect of overheating.
    Lets try another approach.
To eliminate your windows 10 and disk, make a and boot from a USB Recovery disk tool. Windows 10 Recovery Tools - Bootable Rescue Disk
