    Event ID 257 App Events log- The Cryptographic Services service failed


    System is functioning fine, however this error continually logs in the app log. Trying all kinds of fixes everywhere and hoping the Win10 forum group can help out as you guys are probably the best source anywhere for troubleshooting/fixes for Win10.

    Thank you and attempted this previously, in the event I made an error, I re-ran it. My results below, any additional possible fixes?

    Yes ,because doing the same thing and expecting a different result is....?

    Actually, the problem is that BEFORE you can VERIFY the database (using the esentutl /g switch) you need to launch Windows Update so that Windows recreates the contents of the catroot2 folder.
    If you don't do that the folder will remain empty and there's no database to verify, so you'll keep getting the errors you were receiving ("Operation terminated with error -1811 (JET_errFileNotFound, File not found) after 0.0 seconds.") until you start Windows Update.
