how to click next to view pictures in a folder?

Just tried that, no arrows.

I created a 'new folder' in the pictures folder, and copied all the car pictures into it, and have the arrows. Which means to me, the pictures are fine.

I think we can safely say that your Photos is installed and working correctly. Looks like it's a property of that particular folder then, probably security permissions.

I can reproduce the effect you see by denying SYSTEM 'List folder contents' permission.

IT is only that folder and only on my PC that exhibits this odd behavior.

I downloaded the zip to my laptop and it works, with arrows.
I then downloaded to my desktop, and have no arrows.

It has to be permissions. Look at the folder's Properties and on the Security tab click the Advanced button. If you see nothing obvious on the Permissions tab, check the Effective Access tab and select each user that has permissions in turn. Those should be SYSTEM, Administrators and your own user account.

No, you have to type a name then click the 'Check Names' button. It should then show the name underlined to say that it exists, then you can click OK..

I seem to have it all available for my user. And SYSTEM was the same. And Administrator Triciawin10 pc was the same.

At least I sold the car today! For $800 only a hundred under my original price. Good deal seeing many years ago I paid $900 for it.

Since this was happening to me often, I wanted to add my 2 cents.
While the question hovering over the right area to have the arrow come up is still a question. After all some cases the arrow shows, no matter what.
I just went through the following situation.
I downloaded a zipped file from Google drive.
After unzipping the pictures, there was no arrow.
I highlighted 2 files and I was able to go back and forth to between the two but no more.
Meanwhile every other folder I was able to do that.
As I was searching and reading (this forum) about the issue, suddenly the arrows showed up!
What happened I don't know.
I tried to recreate the situation by downloading another folder but no help.
So lets see if this help someone to figure out what is happening.
