    Windows search function won't work

A couple of nights ago I used the Windows search function from the start icon to find the Windows snipping tool. As soon as I started typing "snipping" it of course started looking for things and brought them up in the box above.

But last night I went to do the same thing I clicked the Windows icon and started typing and the box opened above but it was solid black. You can type anything in there and the same thing happens, solid black box. After you type something in there you can hit enter and nothing happens either.

    What could have happened?

Hi, what is your Windows build number? Win key + r, winver
Sadly it's not a forum requirement so we have to keep on asking for it.

Please have a look at your Update History. Have you perhaps received an update in the period of interest? If so, which one?

Do you have a System Restore point you can try using?

Have you installed or uninstalled any programs in that period?

    Check ctfmon.exe - see
Can't Type In Search Bar and Windows 10 Built-in Apps.

Feel free to search the forum for
    can't type in search box

    - you will find more results.

(Note: If you have build 1903, Cortana and search have been separated)

It just came back all on it's own. I guess once the computer restarted it was back. Very odd but at least it's fixed.
