Desktop icon arrangement not saving after restart.

Hi, every time i rearrange desktop icon after restarting or shutting down it keeps back from the previous arrangement.

My problem is same as this Windows 10: Folder View Settings and Desktop Icon Positions Not Saving

I already use the autofix it works but only one time use. It will only work if i rearrange it in safemode and run the x64 batch file.

Tried also this

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{42aedc87-2188-41fd-b9a3-0c966feabec1}\InProcServer32\

-AND-

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{42aedc87-2188-41fd-b9a3-0c966feabec1}\InProcServer32\

Double click on (Default) and replace "%SystemRoot%\SysWow64\shell32.dll" with "%SystemRoot%\system32\windows.storage.dll" in both file destinations.

But this 2 location are already %SystemRoot%\system32\windows.storage.dll.


I have the latest windows 10 version 1903


Any new fix?

There are some very long threads about desktop icon positions moving. It's been a problem for some users through several editions of Windows (= pre Win 10).

One workaround is use a 3rd party tool to save and restore them.

As I said, this topic keeps coming back, alas.

To which version are you referring? v6.7.1 seems latest..
