    Does RAM affect laptop battery life?

    I have 8gb and considering upgrading to 16gb ram.



    I saw in this description, it reduces battery consumption by over 40%. I never heard of this. If anything, wouldn't more ram use more battery life of your battery?

    Perhaps the assumption is paging would be reduced - more would remain resident in RAM more of the time, so power demand is reduced. Seems a bit blasé.

    Some estimates suggest 3W per 8Gb RAM, but depends on how the RAM is used too.
