Automatic Update Made Photo Editing Not Work Correctly

This is NOT solved--just fixed.
Microsoft ran an automated update a couple of days ago and now photo editing is not working the way it did previously. I shoot a lot of photos for a local news website and after editing, saved them with new names that help me sort--so, for example, football photos might be F1, f2, etc. After the update, when i edit a photo, it saves only as a copy of the original name (IMG4028, for example, so I get IMG4028(2). Only after I do that, do I get the "save as" option back, which means i either give up my naming convention or have two or more copies of everything.
Any suggestions? The "save as" option does not appear in the first step anymore.

ADDED: It's the software that came bundled with the Windows 10 Edge computer--it's just the Photos app.

To which update are you referring? An update to your Photo app? (Apps are frequently updated in the background). Photos on mine: 2019.19061.18920.0

I see these options to save - is this what you see- no 'Save as'?


If this has changed, you can send feedback to MS via the dropdown from the ...
If so and you need that function consider going to one of the many 3rd party programs downloaded outside the Store that have been around from before Win 10 in many cases - or a different one from the Store.

Being subject to MS's whims isn't always the greatest idea.

Or are you perhaps referring to the latest update for build 1903?

- this seems beset with small problems.

And by the way, which Windows build are you using?
Sadly it's not a forum requirement for users to state this so we have to keep asking...

Assuming you've had an update to the app, and it's the version I quoted, which seems likely, then if you're unhappy with the way it works, I believe you have two options:

a. start using a different program
b. generate feedback to MS (feedback hub app)

Windows 10 Edge laptop

Your Notebook/laptop has a Brand name, Model Name and Model number on it somewhere, that information goes in My Computer/Computer Specs. Windows 10 is the Operating System installed on it and Edge is the Internet Browser that comes with Windows 10.

The app on all my Win10 computers just says Photos on the Start menu and the Tiles, quite normal as it comes with Windows. My biggest issue with Photos is slow opening, has to first read/enumerate all the photos it finds. Always liked Windows Picture Viewer that starts showing images as it load them, will keep it available as long as possible.
