Help choosing a Win 10 laptop

PassMark Software - CPU Benchmark Charts

You can look up any CPU you are considering to get a general idea of relative horsepower.

You will see a general score like 5455, which would be for all cores in the CPU.

But be sure to check the "single thread rating" as well--it will be considerably lower.

If you are not particularly impatient (Damn, this thing is slow!!!!!!!!!), you may want to give more weight to things other than the CPU---weight, battery life, screen size, warranty, etc.

Of course, all contingent on your budget.

If you will use it for browse the internet and / or office (Word Excel etc) a i5 and 4 G of memory is all you need.

I have a Desktop for all most everything, but I like to kick back in my recliner with a lightweight laptop. I used it for a few things, almost everything I do except for games/gaming.

Surf the web for information, forums, email, photo editing from my journey's outdoors. I like to set it up in my kitchen and watch videos while cooking. My laptops usually don't leave the house so they don't get very josseled (I don't think that's a word, lol) about. I had my Toshiba since 2012 and never had to do anything really major, I guess a new hard-drive is kind of major but it was pretty uncomplicated.

I am liking this one more, since I went to Walmart and they had one. They seem pretty well made, but not too heavy. What do you all think?

That's a Celeron N4000 dual core.

Quite puny, I'd think.

But maybe adequate depending on your expectations.

Look up your old Toshiba at Passmark to give you a comparison

I will do that, I'm pretty sure I'll see my Toshiba was way better I'll go look now.

The Lenovo you posted the link has a Celeron processor N4000. Celeron are the bottom line of intel processors. And it has 64GB eMMC (storage capacity) that can't be upgraded (soldered to the MB).

that's also a small "laptop" which I basically want something a bit better than the Chrome OS, so even adding Win 10 should be ok for a "second" computer. My Toshiba was 17 inch too, and when I sent it up for my brother-in-law, I sent all the paperwork/manuals along with it so I can't find the model number now etc.
