Once you go IPS, you don't go back.

A good friend is a semi-professional photographer. On my recommendation he bought a refurb Dell 32" IPS display over 10 years ago. The resolution is way past 1080p (requires DisplayPort which was not common that long ago) ! He still loves it !!

Or dual link DVI. That supported 2560 X 1600.

I'm from 29 years of Apple ONLY. I can compromise in all sorts of ways but not MEH screens. For me 1080p, IPS, and 'fine' color is something I can't let go of.

Hey, if they want to offer cheaper screens, all power to them. But to force us to pay more for a 13 inch with a solid screen than a 15 inch with an 'okay' screen is infuriating.

I was trying to switch a college freshman off of a MacBook Air and over to an Asus 13 inch Vivobook. But since one didn't exist with a reasonably similar screen, she got the MacBook. In the best case scenario I could only manage to save her $100 on a nice ZenBook over the Air.

It should have been at least $399 in savings via a Vivobook to make it interesting for her. Asus can sell a slim 13 inch Vivobook for $599, but they won't because they hope they can get you to buy a 15 inch for $100 more with a B+ screen.

    To me, that's stupid.
MacBooks are glued together and are a real pain to repair and upgrade if this is possible at all.

That happened to my Dell Inspiron. I discovered the broken hinge had strained the video cable causing the screen to flicker and turn off. I rebonded the hinge using epoxy glue and self tapping screws and reset the video cable. All fixed for zero cost but I had to completely disassemble the laptop (which you couldn't do with a MacBook). I'm gutted I bought a new HP ProBook before discovering the Dell laptop was repairable. I now have upstairs and downstairs laptops.

Certainly go for an IPS display and a Full HD (1920x1080) resolution is fine for a 15" display

Woohoo, so far so good! Wanted to start out showing you some photos of the screen since the reviews were all pretty good but had me worrying what the screen display was going to be like. It works for me!! It synced to my desktop background so the color show nicely I think. It is a glossy screen but I'm ok with that More to come as I move on through "customizing" it to my tastes this angle is fuzzy as you are looking down at the screen Help choosing a Win 10 laptop-lenovo-flex-looking-down-screen.jpg This is clear even off to the side not badHelp choosing a Win 10 laptop-lenovo-screen-side-view.jpg and this one is way better than I expected after some negative reviews on the display Help choosing a Win 10 laptop-my-lenovo-flex.jpg

Only thing I didn't count on was my mouse receiver not being a 3.0, and I actually thought they had built at least 2 sizes into the flex 6, but I can live with that. Need another wireless mouse anyway. I have never liked the touch pad, and seems like I do much better using a mouse. More to come, but probably not tonight, unless I can't stay away from it

Generally not having USB 2 ports is not a problem as USB 3 is supposed to be backward compatible to USB 2.

Only IPS will give you consistent clear display and consistent color at angles. But if you are happy that is what counts !

Not sure what you meant but I tried turning them both ways and they don't fit.

According to the manual there is a USB2 port on the left hand side, between the power adapter socket and the memory card slot. On the right there should be a USB3 port and a type-C port, which could be used with an adapter like this:
