Missing boot volume can't fix boot

Hi All,

I have a similar issue to one previously posted here: C:\boot missing

My PC won't boot and recovery options are failing. It appears i need to rebuild my system partition but i'd like some guidance as i'm not sure what i'm doing completely.
I tried BOOTREC /FIXMBR
that was successful then tried BOOTREC /FIXBOOT and i got access denied.
When trying BOOTREC /RebuildBCD it showed "Total Identified Windows Installations: 0"

Hoping to be able to get this fixed and not lose data.

Install Macrium Reflect Free on working PC and create a Reflect bootable USB drive. Boot from that USB drive and select the option Fix Windows Boot Problems.

If Macrium Reflect does not work, try the instructions posted by NavyLCDR in the other post. I could not get MR to work on one person's system. For some reason MR could not find a Windows installation on his system. I had to resort to basically what NavyLCDR posted.

Thanks John, I don't have an easy way to create a bootable CD/USB at the moment to try Macrium. I was going to go ahead with NacyLCDR's suggestions in the other thread but i don't want to select the wrong partition to fix. I'm not quite sure how to determine which one is the correct one.

It is the one formatted as FAT32 and says "Hidden".

Thanks John, I appreciate your help through this. It looks like Navy's steps were for the partition not volume? Just want to confirm the below steps will be what i need considering my screenshot from before.

At the Diskpart Screen
sel dis 0
sel par 2
del par override
cre par EFI
for fs=FAT32 quick
assign letter=T
exit
bcdboot C:\Windows /s T: /f ALL
exit

Then reboot the computer.

Is does get a little confusing between partitions and volumes. It could be done with either. In your case it would be Partition 2 which is labeled "System". It has the same size as Volume 3, the "Hidden" one.

So i got to this step: bcdboot C:\Windows /s T: /f ALL

and it's telling me "Failure when attempting to copy boot files."

That is the same error as the last person that posted in the other thread got. You will have to wait for NavyLCDR or someone else comes back online to solve that. Its above my pay grade. : (

I went ahead and got Macrium, but i am afraid i may have made things even worse. I now get a windows recovery screen.


If i try to hit enter i just get this screen

Then if i hit F1 i just keep getting this screen.
