photos showing a lot bigger than they are, how can i fix ?

have tried an image resizer and I get the error message Arg_ArgumentException

Tried Arfanview it just keeps crashing before I can even download it

Your photos are not correct. If the files are RAW images, they are going to be larger than the program that you are trying to use can load. I would try placing them back on the card and see if the camera can load them to preview on the built in display.

Right. Had to help a client because he couldn't figure out why his memory cards filled up so fast, shooting as .jpg gave him file sizes between 3MB and 5MB but also including the RAW duplicates came in at an additional 20MB each for the same shots. A simple setting in the camera he had missed.

Try to load one of the big files onto a usb stick and see if it will open,on a different computer if possible.If it does,then you can process each one at a time back to .jpg.
A RAW file is roughly the same as a negative film,it contains ALL the captured visible data,wheras the .jpg one is similar to the developed film,after "dodge,burn" and all those other tricks of the trade have been used,giving a smaller file.
Recheck all your camera settings.
