Thanks for the excellent help. Here's the exciting news. I've suddenly found Office 2013 in File Explorer/ Start Menu / Programs. All of the programs included in Office 2013 are listed here, e.g. Excel 2013 / PowerPoint 2013 / Word 2013 etc.
I've right clicked on Microsoft Office 2013, then hit the Send to Desktop (Create a Shortcut). I now have that in the Start Button but with only Word in it. I had created a shortcut for Word and copied that back into the Folder where I found Microsoft Office 2013.
In that Directory, there is Word 2013 & the Word that I just copied into that folder.
I also have Word (all by itself) in the Start Button and both work. But here's another question. In my Microsoft Office 2013 Directory, I have Excel 2013 / OneNote 2013 / Outlook 2013 / etc.
But these do not show up under Microsoft Office 2013. When I now go to create a shortcut for these, it says it cannot create the shortcut because the Disk is full. That's hardly true of course because I have several hundred Gigs free. Can you folks please help me further with this?
As to how I bring the computer out of Sleep or Hibernate, I press the Power Button.

(In the Start Button, when I type in for example, Excel, nothing comes up but web material)

I have just installed Office and Word (and other Office applications) appeared under "All Apps" in the letter "M" section in a folder called "Microsoft Office". In 8 the icons were separate but in 10 it seems they are put in a folder.

If you go there you can right click and take the "Pin to Start" option if you like.

Yep mine are there also and my office was installed on windows 7.

Super!!! I'm trying to wade through the replies since my last posting. I take it this means there is no real answer for this. Please cancel out most of what I said regarding the Office. A simple reboot did that, meaning Microsoft Office strangely disappeared from the Start Button. The Outlook Tile now takes me to File Manager. The Word tile decided it would work.

Has anyone else found a fix for my problem yet? I'm thinking of just going to the directory and deleting all Microsoft Office 2013 files found there and doing a reboot. Has anyone tried this yet and have it work?

Picking this up from your other thread, where you said people had stopped responding to this one:

Well you've definitely got me confused as your 2 posts above appear (to me) to contradict each other. Maybe you need to clarify the current situation and what the issue is (again) so people know what you are asking for help with and as yet have 'no real answer' for.

It would also help to say what results you've had following any of the suggestions you've been given. Again, you may have done this already, but if you want more input, you could help your cause by starting afresh with some clarification.

As for your second question about Start appearing when waking from S&H. Afraid I can't help with that one as I don't use S&H.

But it never helps to ask 2 separate questions in one post, as different people will respond to each question and it can very quickly get confusing as to which replies relate to which question. Separate them out, give them meaningful headings so people can quickly see what the question is, and see if you get a more satisfactory response.

    Good luck :)

Actually, the post really do not contradict each other at all. My first posting you quote, is sarcasm. A respondent called YOU gave me some instruction as what to do. It seemed to work to a point until I rebooted the machine. The one piece of Microsoft 2013 that had been put in the Start Button along with Word as a sub-directory, simply disappeared upon rebooting the machine.

I was in amazement that the thread just came to a dead stop. But your previous explanations coincide with my own thinking. Too many threads and mine was just left in the dust.

    Thanks for your reply.

have you tried doing a repair of Office, see if it puts it back to normal

right click start menu and select programs and features (top entry)
from the list highlight office and click the 'Change' button
next popup should give the option to repair it

You need to be careful when using sarcasm, as people who have tried to help you might not appreciate it and that could make them decide to offer their help elsewhere.

Sarcastic or not - it still confused the heck out of me . And I took that 'YOU' to be a reference to anyone reading the thread, not a specific respondent. So it did seem (to me) that you were 'getting at' the people who were trying to help.

Anyway, all is not lost: why don't you mark this thread as 'Solved' with a comment saying it got confused and so you closed it. Then, if you still have the issues, put each in a different thread with a clear and relevant title (e.g. Start button shows when coming out of sleep / Problem pinning Word to taskbar) that will draw readers who have an expertise in that area, and see what happens?
