Black screen on HP Pavilion Notebook after BIOS Update

    Hi All,

I started facing this issue after I tried to update BIOS after HP Support Assistant's recommendation.

Since morning I am getting a black screen after I switch my notebook on. I tried to perform a BIOS recovery by pressing Window + B and letting it do its thing. After the process was over, my notebook was back to square 1 (still a black screen!)

So I now decided to perform a BIOS recovery using a USB flash drive. I downloaded and installed BIOS files using another computer. But now I am neither able to access HP BIOS Update screen (Windows + B does not work) nor am I able to access the Boot menu by pressing Esc key repeatedly. It's like my notebook is dead. Power button led indicated computer is getting power but the screen is black.

    Please help!

Hi seth0a2. Welcome to the TenForums

All my HP's enter BIOS on F10 and boot menu on F9.

    Could you try those.

In your model do you have access to BIOS battery? If so please detach, wait and reconnect.

So your manual says power on, press esc quickly and then F10.

Is this the recovery you are using. Mentions power key.

I tried with quickly pressing Esc and F10 - Didn't work.

BIOS recovery page from HP is the one that I tried to use initially but didn't work.

And I do not have access to the battery. It's inside a cover that is screwed to the bottom.

If the laptop is off warranty I would remove the cover and disconnect.

Some laptop these days have literally no covers with screws. They require very specific knowledge to split apart.

You might also want to call HP. Seems their recovery procedure is not working for you.
