I have a old acer 5735z that runs Vista home premium 64 bit fine I have seen this model running windows 10 on a video channel I would like to try it out by dual booting and having a look and see what suits I have partitioned the hdd so there is plenty of space Any advise or help please
Hi, FWIW here's the dual boot tutorial - but not specifically for Vista.
Dual Boot Windows 10 with Windows 7 or Windows 8
You would find it easier and safer to swap the internal disk and try installing Win 10 on that - you wouldn't need to worry about additional backups (disk images e.g.) or risks to your existing OS.
I assume you know there's no upgrade path from Vista to '10- you'd need to buy a license if you wished to run '10 on it.
Further, as you know, there's no guarantee of success using PCs effectively out of specification. For example, I found a Vista PC ran Win 8 quite well- until I booted to Safe Mode when it quickly overheated.
Naturally you may find programs that ran on Vista may not run under '10, if you're considering that.
