    Cursor automatically highlighting

The way my cursor highlights when I try to click between characters or insert something has changed. I may have inadvertently done it but I don't know what it was I did. It automatically shades whatever is next to it. How can I undo this? Help and Thank you for any answers. I can't find anything for this for Win 10 system when googling it. I have Dell Inspiron 3470 Mini, I do run open office on it. IE is my browser. I don't know what other info to give on this problem.

Have you tried another mouse to see if the behavior is the same? Try uninstalling the mouse device and driver from Device Manager, reboot, let windows install the default driver to see if thos behavior goes away.

Launch The Windows into Safe Mode and see if it still happens.

Did you possibly go into the "Ease of Access" Settings and change the cursor thickness? You might want to see if that has been changed.

You're a genius! That's exactly what it was. Thank you so much. I was changing the background color the other day and the color of my cursor and must have done this without realizing it. Thank you again! Have a wonderful night!

You are most welcome. I increased the thickness of my cursor as I was having trouble seeing it at times. The more you increase it, the more it starts to impinge on the character to the right.
