Indexing Issue

When I go to the Indexing Options in Control Panel and select Modify I get the same box checked no matter how many times I uncheck it. Can not seem to find where this 'iehistory' is saved or stored. Have read other issues like the Csc offline files showing up unwanted in Index Options and how to delete it but nothing on this particular issue.

You could try resetting the Index Locations..

yeah I tried the Csc offline files thing, I'm having a hard time finding where this 'iehistory' thing starts up or where it is located.
I also did a complete fresh install of Win10 back in April (having it since the Win7 upgrade back in 8/15) and this iehistory user file has just recently started showing up. It is not located in the registry files to my knowledge...it doesn't show on a search rather.

Sorry, that should have been Option 3 - that resets the Indexed Locations.

have rebuilt the index on numerous occasions (first thing tried really) and the iehistory still pops up...if I could just locate where it is stored or being originated from....

Option 3 is more than rebuilding the index. It resets the locations being indexed.

After restarting and several hours usage the 'iehistory' listed as unavailable is back, showing a checked box as in the OP.
Obviously rebuilding the Index from scratch reinstalls this location although it is listed as unavailable.

I wouldn't have expected rebuilding the index to have had any effect on the indexed locations. The second tells the first what to index.

Try creating a new user for test purposes and see what you see there.

There may be a hint here (older threads, so indicative only...):

The trick for getting rid of the indexing of browsing history is to modify those options from within IE8 not from the Indexing options itself. I have included the instructions below.

1. From Internet Explorer, click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options. On the Content tab, in the AutoComplete section, click Settings.

2. In the AutoComplete Settings dialog box, uncheck the appropriate check boxes for the AutoComplete options you do not wish to use.

3. To clear AutoComplete or web address history, click the General tab. Under Browsing History, click Delete. In the Delete Browsing History dialog box, click the Delete Forms and Delete Passwords buttons.

Tried 'em all...even a New User....the 'iehistory' is still there as before....if I could just find out where it is stored to delete it.

You could try 'uninstalling' IE in Programs and Features and 'reinstalling' it..
The odd thing is that Indexed Locations should be what you set.

So I'm wondering how it is that this appears later?
