How to add 'copy to Notepad' in right-click context menu

Am I dreaming? I'm certain that once upon a time, (perhaps long ago) I could highlight text on a webpage and simply right-click and copy to Notepad. I've spent hours touring the registry, trying to add the feature.

I've only been able to locate desktop and explorer context menus, nothing useful for use with a browser.

I've searched the Tutorials section and googled without success. Could anyone point me in the right direction?

    Thanks in advance,

    Michael

I dare say some dream of 'instant on' PCs with 360degree circular surround screens and instant downloads...

Depending on your browser, you may be thinking of an extension.

There are - or have been- many note-taking extensions for FF for example- e.g.
Automatically copy selected text in Firefox to Clipboard or Notepad

I've been able to copy and paste to notepad by left clicking on mouse...hold down button, scroll all text (it will be highlighted in blue), click copy then paste in notepad. You may want to have notepad already brought up and minimized in task bar for a quick copy and paste.

LOL. I like that 360-degree monitor idea, sounds a bit like VR, wouldn't you say? As for instant-on, I thought anyone with an SSD pretty much has an instant-on. Even my 10-year-old pos Dell laptop boots in under 15 or 20 seconds after I installed an inexpensive Kingston SSD.

For a bit of perspective, if you want to talk about slow. I still have an old desktop PC I built in the 90's with an Intel PII 200Mhz, single-core processor. I'd guess the boot time is about 5 minutes or longer, but I haven't fired it up in about 8 years.

I think you are correct. I once used firefox and maybe there was an extension for 'copy to notepad'. Too bad firefox decided their priority was to save the world from themselves and they kept killing my extensions they didn't approve of.

Thanks, I suppose I was trying to cut corners. I do use Notepad constantly and was trying to streamline the process a bit. As a work-around, I've been testing clipboard apps and have Notepad pinned to the taskbar. I may look around in the Vivaldi Community and see what's there.

    Thanks for your input.

Don't forget Win 10 has a built-in clipboard viewer. Press Win key+V to look at what is currently being saved there. Mine holds the last 25 select/copy actions.

You would open Notepad, press Win key+V, click on the data in the clipboard you want to paste into Notepad and voilla`, you're done. At least it works for me.

Thanks Ztruker, I had clipboard history enabled but wasn't aware of that shortcut. The shortcut does make it much more useful but I'm still searching for that elusive 'copy to notepad' feature. I might explore creating a shortcut quick-launch for notepad. Thanks for pointing out that feature.

    See if these help....

I have 2 solutions, one that uses PowerShell, the other that uses Autohotkey....

I was able to program a hotkey for Notepad using my Steelseries keyboard but prefer to use Autokey as it allows more flexibility on the keys used. Eventually, I'll get that script correct to automatically paste the clipboard contents and launch notepad together. Thanks again Bree, I'll mark this as complete.

Also thanks to dalchina for reminding me of where the feature came from. Not enough motivation to reconsider using firefox.
And thanks to Jacee for a copynpaste reminder. You never know...
And Ztruker for an excellent shortcut to clipboard viewer.
