How does a combined 256GB SSD and 1TB SATA HDD work together?

When I get my new laptop I've decided it will be best to have a SSD and HDD.

As I'm no computer expert, it will be a worry that I might make a slight mistake when moving 'Users Folder' to the HDD (I guess this is the best way to do this instead of the way shown in the Youtube video I posted?) and messing up my brand new expensive laptop!

Interesting reading. So a current top i5 will be close to double the power I have now.

You can't install a new CPU on your old laptop.
Your CPU (i5 3210M) is a Ivy Bridge (2012) 3rd gen with 3rd gen chipset.
New CPU's require to have compatible chipsets.
