search bar doing nothing

the search bar in windows 10 by the windows icon does nothing, does not even search let along find anything

You can easily remove that search bar if it is bothering you.

doesn't bother me, i use it seldom, none the less it did work and now does not, would like it to work again and then i might take it out myself

Mightbe update KB4512941. Cortana problems and high cpu loads. I uninstalled it, and everything was back to normal.

you are a genius, i thought it had something to do with the last update but did not know how to start checking on that without help, to the best of my memory that is the first update hit i have taken from the updates.

it downloaded again, I let it thinking maybe microsoft fixed it, they did not, removed it again, anyone on here with connections to Microsoft that can send it in as a problem

Microsoft is getting reports that a small number of users may not receive results when using Windows Desktop Search and may see high CPU usage from SearchUI.exe when searching after installing KB4512941.

This issue is only encountered on devices in which searching the web from Windows Desktop Search has been disabled.

None of my machines have this issue, but then I have never tweaked anything to disable searching the web.

I do tweak, mostly disabling telemetry, web search, etc. After updating to v.1903, Cortana was constantly running around 35% CPU utilization. For me, enabling web search was not an option and was too lazy to uninstall the relevant patch. Instead, I've ran the "Fix Cortana Search.bat" file, as shown in the video.

I do not remember where I've got files, but it works just fine. That makes me question...

If a guy can clobber together a batch and other files in couple of days, how come Microsoft programmers take so long to fix this issue?
