When I try to boot after I select Normal startup I usually get the screen that has options like getting into troubleshooting, UEFI setup, continue booting into Windows and some others. It's interesting that some options do no nothing when selected. I will also get the message that winload is missing which seems to indicate that the 'strange' boot loaders are probably pointing to a location that no longer exits. If I can just find where these three boot loaders are stored maybe I can delete them without disturbing the one that works.

You could delete your EFI system partition and rebuild it.

On dozens of computers since Windows 7, Selective Startup is always selected because the Normal Startup option just simply will not stick. I may be able to select it and reboot once, but once it reboots it goes right back to selective startup. So I just don't worry about it.
As I mentioned I am perfectly sanctified the way I works. I have no problems. What does your MSCONFIG look like? Even if using Selective startup is use old config checked but grayed out?

I looked at my EFI partition and there is nothing in it that has those three weird boot loader entries. There is probably a utility that would fix things but while a disk restore usually reverses whatever I did it might not work in certain cases.

Again I stress, I am just curious why I get what I get especially if I am the only one seeing this,.

I won't be at my computers for another hour or so, then I'll check.

    My msconfig:

Use original boot configuration is greyed out and checked. When I reboot with the selection above, there are no issues.

And I only have the one single entry on the boot tab for the Windows installed and loaded.

What is the history of your Windows install? Is it a clean install? An upgrade from previous version? I do believe the solution to your problem is to create a fresh EFI system partition.

You have this in your BCD:
    Code:
    Windows Legacy OS Loader
    ------------------------
    identifier {ntldr}
    device unknown
    path \ntldr
    description Earlier Version of Windows
Mine does not have that entry. I wonder if that is causing the problem?

I did an inplace update a few months back. Haven't done a clean install in a while. I have so much stuff to reinstall it would really be a major undertaking. It would only be a thing of last resort.
I tried rebuilding the BCD using the instructions here: How to Rebuild the BCD in Windows
I couldn't get a new BCD to appear where the instructions say it should be. In fact the only BCD is the one I renamed per one of the steps of the instruction. Yet I was able to boot my machine. If there is no BCD in c:\boot other than bcd.old how did I boot?

    1) Open disk management > by default some columns are compressed > widen each Status and Volume > make sure the contents within the parenthesis are in full view and that none of the characters are cutoff > view disk 0 > widen this row as needed so that all of the characters are in full view > post an image into the thread

Now I ran into a more pressing issue. I restored a disk image prior to fooling around trying to fix the BCD so things should have been back to normal. However, now when I click F11 to load off of my USB I get the multiboot wondow which only has Windows 10 on it. Never had this before. Besides not wanting this menu I can no longer boot from my USB. Prior, the BIOS would present a list of drives to boot from, now I don't get that only the multi boot menu. Nothing changed in my BIOS.

******** MY BAD ******** It's the F12 key that brings up the BIOS choice as to what to boot from. I guess F11 brings up the multi boot menu.

Here's a couple of screenshots. I use A different Partition Manager so I included that one. The disks missing at the
bottom are not germane to my problem.

    ane to my problem.

I don't really get a BSOD as I mentioned. I get thrown into a troubleshooting screen so I think those utilities won't really help. In all probability the in place upgrades probably caused all of this. All I would like to have is MSCONFIG show what others have without those three entries when I select older configs. This option is probably selectable for me because I do have older configs albeit probably non existent anymore.

    Please run the log collectors.
    View the logs collected.
    There are approximately 35.
The computer environment can be scanned/checked for problems.
If you upload them they can be troubleshooted.
