    Windows 10 - Time won't sync

    Hi,

I have issues with time sync on my Windows 10 machine.

I'm getting timeout error in internet time settings when I try to sync my time manually, and my clock is getting two minutes ahead.

I tried every single time server in the world, but it won't sync my time at all.

    I also performed these steps:

    1. Tried to stop and start Windows Time service in services.msc

    2. Tried to use different time servers.

    3. Tried to re register Windows Time service using command prompt, and these commands:

    w32tm /debug /disable
    w32tm /unregister
    w32tm /register
    net start w32time

    4. Tried to turn off my firewall and all other security software

    5. Tried to re register DLL file with this command using command prompt: regsvr32 w32time.dll

    6. Tried to change my region

And the most strange thing is that this issue is affecting all the machines in my town. I tried to contact several friends and neighbors, and all of them have this same issue with their Windows 10 and Windows 8.1 machines.

I'm also getting this error in Event Viewer:

Are you running Win 10 on a virtual machine?

By default Windows uses it is own made up time server, it is better to use "time.nist.gov".
Generally it is better to use anything else than Windows default apps. I use update-time.

I'm using it on a physical machine, and this problem started yesterday.

I tried that server, and also these servers:

    time.google.com and ntp.pool.org

It is syncing normally by using third party time apps, but it won't sync using Windows own time service.

Since others in the same town have the problem it may be the power generating plant is the issue, voltage and/or frequency adjustments are off a bit, making things run a bit faster.

Can you please try to perform time sync under internet time tab in date and time settings in control panel?

I have it set to time.windows.com and 2 time zones, GMT/UTC and local. Shows the same in the Control Panel applet and on the right-click of the clock in the Notification Area. I'm a bit more sensitive to the time than some folks as I worked with it for more than 30 years between the Navy and Air Traffic.

"2 times zones" is that because of two clocks ?

That's an adjustable feature of the built-in clock in Win10, it shows only the local time but hovering the mouse over it will show both times.
