What is this folder for - c:\windows\system32\wbem ?

What is the function of the folder c:\windows\system32\wbem?

I'm trying to expunge HP Sure Click which was installed on my new laptop. I uninstalled Sure Click but the Sure Click Chrome Extension remained and was greyed out so nothing could be done with it. Uninstalling / reinstalling Chrome and deleting all Chrome app user files worked for a week but the Sure Click extension reappeared today after a Google update!

I only found one reference to a Sure Click file in the Registry which referenced a Sure Click file in c:\windows\system32\wbem. I'm unsure what that directory does but I zapped the registry entry and referenced file.

I have that folder too, I think it's part of Windows. There's a few possible answers here.

It is indeed part of Windows, and is extensively documented in this Windows Docs article entitled "About WMI." WBEM is, in fact, a standard from the Desktop Management Task Force (DMTF) and is also documented as such at WBEM | DMTF.

When it doesn't work i am unable to do anything, cannot access settings, extension, policy?

Thanks for the reply, I was able to follow the info in the link and it removed the option in Chrome regarding Managed by your Organization, however I still cannot open any site in Chrome, same as mentioned above.
Certainly something else is blocking this.
I have removed Chrome, restarted, removed all Google related folders, restarted and reinstalled from Chrome site, still nothing.
    Any other suggestions?

I was initially surprised since Sure Click kept reappearing despite being zapped in the Chrome installation files. I discovered Sure Click leaves behind a setting in registry.pol which causes it to be reinstalled. See also chrome://policy/ for what has been set. I fixed the issue as follows.
    1. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\GroupPolicy\Machine\
    2. Delete registry.pol permanently using Shift + Delete.
    3. To recreate it, open PowerShell with admin privileges. (Win+X+A)
    4. Execute the following command: gpupdate /force

I found the utility regpolviewer useful Registry.Pol Viewer Utility - SDM Software | Configuration Experts

Bromium support identified the basic problem and the above fix. They are obviously aware installation of their software is poor.

I was able to follow those steps and it removes the "Managed by our Organization" message but
my problem is I cannot access the settings or policies or extension part of Chrome, everything is locked out.
I can look at the HP Secure Browser setting and Policies but it doesn't really lead me anywhere.

I didn't think there was support for Bromium but I see there is a site and it is related with HP, I can try that route.

Did you uninstall Sure Click? You can contact Bromium support at support@bromium.com

Here is the fix they gave me but I'd already solved it as at post 7 above.

Apologies for the lengthy delay! Here are steps advised to me by Engineering in order to remove the extension. If this is still an issue, please try them and let me know the outcome if possible.
    1. Download the Chrome group policy templates from https://dl.google.com/dl/edgedl/chro..._templates.zip
    2. Navigate to Start > Run: gpedit.msc
    3. Navigate to Local Computer Policy > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates
    4. Right-click Administrative Templates, and select Add/Remove Templates
    5. Add the chrome.adm template (from "windows\adm\en-US" within the zip file) via the dialog
    6. Within gpedit navigate to Local Computer Policy > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Classic Administrative Templates (ADM) > Google > Google Chrome > Extensions and double-click on "Configure the list of force-installed apps and extensions"
    7. Then set the policy to "Not Configured" and hit "Apply"
