    Windows apps icons turn white when used as a desktop shortcut:

    This issue pertains to app icons turning white when used as a desktop shortcut. It always happens after a reboot and sometimes after sleep mode. This problem never happens with regular program icons, just apps. I haven't been able to find a specific answer to this issue. Any ideas will be much appreciated. Running the latest version of Windows 10 and have no other issues (except those that have been around forever). Thanks.

    You might want to try rebuilding the icon cache using the tutorial below:

    Thanks for the advice but that isn't what's causing this issue. The icon cache is not corrupted. I have tried Rebuilding the Icon Cache in the past. The app icons are fine if they are pinned to the taskbar. It's only when a desktop shortcut of an app is made that causes the problem. In any case I only use the HP Smart app on the desktop so I found an icon for Smartfriend by HP Care and use it for the HP My Smart app on the desktop which stops the problem. The icon is very similar to the HP Smart app.

    Mcd73165, did you ever find a solution to this? I'm having the exact same problem.

    @pjgibbons:
    Sorry. Never found an answer for this issue. I just don't put app shortcuts on the desktop. Plus its been a long time since I tried doing this.
