Safest Way to Convert Hundreds of *.doc to *.odt

I want to convert a slew of *.doc documents to *.odt safely, easily (since I'm not as good as a techie), and from several folders. Is there a downloadable converter file will enable me to do this...perhaps folder by folder?

As I browse through directories, I see that I have hundreds of those docs to convert. I know that I can go one-by-one (open a doc in Libre or Open Office, then save it as an odt). But that's laborious. So I'm hoping that someone has been through this and has a easier solution. Thanks...your help will be greatly appreciated.

Why bother until a specific need arises, LibreOffice and OpenOffice can natively handle .doc and .docx files. I find it's necessary to open and resave as a different format only when sharing/sending to another person that need a particular format. I also find LibreOffice [at least up to version 4, maybe later] still able to handle the old Microsoft Works/Works Suite formats. Last I looked OpenOffice dropped that. Both programs have their roots in the old WordStar program.

    Libre office

I would just adjust the defaults in Libre to MS Office files to keep the "compatibality" with Office so when you send/share a file with others that have Office will never know you don't.

Porthos & Berton...yes, on a one-time basis as needed. But I'm looking to switch all those docs in -- hopefully -- a single session.

Dude...Tried it on your suggestion. Found that all docs would be uploaded to an internet resource. I am not in favor of having all that data travel into never-never land and perhaps be searchable or hackable while or after traveling. I'm hoping to find a resource that will be downloadable so I can then use it without internet/cloud.

MultiDoc Converter seems to work, one directory at a time...but that's far better than the one doc at a time method that I was using.

    Thanks SIW2
