    News in Action Center is the last thing for me to get working in 1903


    I was just finally forced to update to 1903. As expected 17 things broke, but I had to check over 40 to find them. "Shortcut" added back to a desktop shortcut icon for example.Reset the recycle bin custom icon. Re-Disabled
    Windows Photo Viewer - again. Enabled touchscreen when I had it turned off. Those kind of things. All my little tweaks.


    But after all that, the ONE I cannot yet fix is the lack of news alerts in the Action Center. Used to work.

    I tried everything in notifications, background apps, focus, etc. and no luck. Open to trying anything else you might suggest.

    I am getting VERY few notifications. I do about updates, backups from Macrium, but the Beaking News is obviously missing.

    Some customisations will inevitably get reset with a build upgrade. That's a side effect of the benefit of build upgrades repairing installations. Best keep such tweaks to the minimum, or keep a neat record and folder of reg files etc so you can quickly reapply them.

    Have you checked the setting here?

    Thanks. I do keep a spread sheet :) And were that it was only reg changes, but also tasks, group policies, services.... And some change and some do not each "feature" update so quite a few to check. VERY time consuming.

    BUT, I do have Breaking News checked. Thanks. I'm wondering if because I do not show it on the lock screen it is preventing the action center. Next thing for me to check

    Lock Screen alerts made no difference to news either in action center of on lock screen.

    So far no News notifications from MS News here either.. (I had that setting off). I recall this used to work (quite a long time ago though). Nor is News listed in Settings as an app for which I can choose to enable notifications. It should be added if it does generate one, apparently.

    And this (and BBC News) are set to run in background.

    Interesting. I DO have it listed in settings and is enabled. No info Googling for a change in this.
