Show desktop button failing
My show desktop taskbar button is not working anymore. I know I can create other from different ways, but I need to know if it is possible to repair the ORIGINAL one. Thanks so much.

If you rt click the tasbar, does clicking 'Show Desktop' work?
How about Win key + d?
Make sure this is on:
One source suggests this to reregister the dll
regsvr32 /i shell32.dll
Otherwise, as you say it's not working any more, do you have either
- a system restore point
- a disk image
you created before this happened?
Finally I restored the system from a point days ago and it worked.
Thanks.
Mind if I ask what show desktop taskbar button? I don't have nor ever have had one as far as I'm aware. Only thing close to it is the space at the far right of the Taskbar that can be used to hide Desktop icons and then show them again, as long as nothing significant has been changed on the desktop.
It may have been there at one time but Microsoft might have considered
it an annoyance and moved it to the right click taskbar menu.
I had- it now seems erroneously- thought the OP meant that one, bottom right.
APoL0x - do you have that, and does it work?
And when posting a question, I suggest you post a screenshot to help people answer the right question...
But it seems you were lucky-this time- and System Restore completed - it often doesn't.
Hopefully you use disk imaging routinely- we so often recommend Macrium reflect (free/licensed)- there are others too. Given a disk image you can recover to a good previous state even if you have to replace your disk.
I wanted to say I have it there in taskbar for a long time.
And yes, I have the option to show desktop on the right side of taskbar, but I personally prefer to have it on the left side.
