Drag from browser to Windows Explorer

When I select in the Address Bar of a browser (Microsoft Edge or Mozilla Firefox) the icon in front of te site entered and drag it to an open window in de windows explorer I get a schortcut to that site in that window.
Now all of a sudden I get a forbidden sign (crossed circle).
I suppose the trouble lies with Windows Explorer as it happens with different browsers.
Has anyone an idea how to remedy this probmem?

I just tried the same with this page and got the shortcut on my Desktop and also dragged it into the Downloads Folder in File Explorer [renamed from Windows Explorer], no problem.

    Rich,

    Thanks for the info.

So the .url file structure is not about to be abandoned anytime soon. That's very good news for me because
    - File explorer can display a .url file's target address
    - Notepad can read-edit a .url file's internal structure and properties
    - VBA, VBA & PS can read-edit-create .url files

    Rich,

I've only just realised that we had discussed the .url shortcut type before

True, but this the first time Edge has had support for creating shortcuts via drag and drop. If they would just allow me to choose what page I want opened with a new tab I think I would seriously consider switching again. Gave up last time after terying it for about 6 months. Currently using Vivaldi and like it a lot.
