How i can transfer settings - programs from win7 to win10?

I've tried this on a lot of systems (at work) and it generally is very painful to do. Incompatible stuff from W7 creeps in and tends to make the W10 installation less reliable.

We find the easiest method to be to:
- save all data (to include things like bookmarks, etc)
- write down everything (from the W7 system) that you want on the W10 system (to include Firefox extensions, etc)
- Install W10 "clean" and then install the latest, W10 compatible versions of all the programs that you need.
- import the saved data into the proper locations (such as the Firefox profile)
- then tweak settings as you come across them

This may take a little longer than just transferring things over - but it sure takes a lot less time when the installation starts giving problems because of a problem carried over with the W7 stuff (which usually results in having to wipe the computer and start over anyway).

There is special mozbackup which backs up and restore Firefox and thunderbird it's free

No, no, no i don't want to upgrade the win7 -> win10 i want to make a clean install cause i have very sas storys about upgrade windows older to newer versions.

Why don't copy all the folder?

Until now(Windows xp, 7 e.t.c.) i do exactly that simply copy all the folder "C:\Users\my pc name\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\profile.default" To the new windows for example
Old windows
"C:\Users\oldpc\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\profile.default"
New windows
"C:\Users\newpc\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\profile.default"
And work like a charm.

I believe windows 10 directory structure doesn't change from the win7 directory structure correct?

The program windows easy transfer doesn't do work?
I belive this is an Microsoft program is do exactly that transfer settings e.t.c. of programs to new windows system.

I believe it support all windows versions.

Does anyone have try that program for firefox or any other program? And if it did does it work correctly?

In general you should not attempt to copy programs over. There will (nearly always) be something that breaks.
Better scenario is to backup the user profile, fresh reinstall Windows 10 and then install all software fresh.
If you just copy over the content of the user profile you will get documents and some settings over but to have everything over you need to make a backup with fx USMT from microsoft.
Sadly Microsoft does no more make WET, (Windows Easy Transfer)

A lot of the free software you can install easily in one go by using ninite.com's application installer. It is free!

Exactly that i mean.
Install the firefox to win10 and then copy the profile folder into win10 place.

Is there any firefox plugin that create a full backup of firefox so i can restore it to the win10 new setup?


And i believe the Ninite - Install or Update Multiple Apps at Once program is just add the installed program at the boot image disc of win10 nothing more of settings e.t.c.

You CAN do that. It does work but I cannot imagine doing that for all the various programs, outlook, mail accounts etc.
USMT can do it for office, Firefox, chrome etc. and i have used USMT from a commandline, maybe 10 years ago.
But for many years now I have had a subscription for USMTGUI (yes sorry, another third party program that I pay for), but it saves me tonnes of time at work when migrating from Windows 7 or just when reinstalling PC's and it is always updated to comply with the latest Windows 10 version.
