    Blank or Black Screen when Restarting Windows 10


    On my wife's laptop which is a Toshiba Satellite C855D-S5340, when clicking "Restart" Windows will attempt to restart but will hang at a blank screen before showing the post screen or LOGO. I have let it sit for hours and it does nothing from that point. You then have to use the power button to shut it down and then start it up and it does fine. It is running OS Build 18362.295 and all drivers are up to date. Plenty of room on the HDD and 8 GB of RAM. This does not happen if you choose "Shutdown" from the menu instead of "Restart". I have turned off Fast Restart in Power Options and also used elevated command prompt to make sure it was turned off. Still get same results. I have searched the MS Community Help and there are MANY instances of this problem but I can't seem to find anything that works for me. Can somebody please help with this annoyance?     Hi, Maybe try this Microsoft troubleshooter although it probably does not have anything you haven't tried it may be worth a shot. I have had that issue a few times with Windows but it resolved itself both times.

    Loose connections, loose RAM (take the RAM out and clean the gold connectors).

    But laptop startup problems are most likely bad MOSFET (plenty of YouTube videos).
