I should have said, this will be setting up others computers. As some new computers come with an SSD and a Storage Drive I would like to be able to set up clients computers like this and know they will be stable.

My personal computer is the standard C Drive with a Storage Partition. I don't personally move directories, but it is needed in instances with the SSD + Storage Drive setup, and folks that don't know how to keep things organised on different drives.

If your clients aren't responsible for configuring the PCs then at least the risk of significant mistakes when configuring them, should you elect to use the Location tab, is removed.

I've always relocated my data folders using the Location Tab and have never had an issue. My user data folders have survived multiple clean install of Windows 10.

But, I do know that there is something inherently wrong with my Windows 10 computers because I've never had any major issue with any of the version upgrades either.
Very confusing statement to say the least?

If you did a clean install then that would create a new User Directory, but then you are going in manually and resetting the one that is on the Storage Drive? I won't be able to do this as it will be on my clients computers.

Why would you think there is something inherently wrong with your installs if you've never had an major issues?

My feeling is, windows 10 should be able to do this by now. Many computers come from factory with SSD + HDD Combo. And some programs rely on User Directories. I wonder if this is what happened to those folks a while back, when they lost all their pictures during a Feature Update?

Either way my next move will be to test this out. Any input as to my success will be extremely appreciated.

I don't have a pc with an extra drive that I want to practice this on but I could partition one of my laptops and put the Pictures Directory on it, and it would be about the same thing I would think?

Please see my post #10 in this thread. I use Minitool Partition Wizard, free version. Works quite well and the price is right.
