Can not access computer. Blurred Sign in screen.

    Hello Everyone,

This is the first time I’ve encountered this problem.

After the new windows update, I cannot access the computer as it is blurry and flickers in between as it is working.

    Please help

    Welcome to tenforums.

Please define 'the new windows update'. Some people run 1803, some 1809, some 1903, some are Insiders.. do you mean update or upgrade?

Please complete your system specs including details of your graphics card (if any). See mine for comparison (click My computer at the bottom of my post). A tutorial is available if needed.

Try booting to Safe Mode if you can- Shift + left click on Restart and follow through the sequence of prompts. (Tutorial available if needed).

Apparently (according to an answer I got on Microsoft.com support), in the latest update Microsoft deliberately blurred the "lock screen" so's users could focus more easily on the sign-in box.

I have fixed mine by turning on and back off Transparency in Settings/Personalisation. But that's not much good to Tahalodhi if they can't sign in

How to disable Sign-in screen acrylic (blur) background on Windows 10 May 2019 Update | Windows Central
    - that's what you're referring to, I believe- the background to the login screen, rather than the lock screen- but should not affect the ability to log on.

That said, if tahalodhi16 is having trouble logging on, but not otherwise, it's worth trying what you suggest.
The article I've quoted also gives the registry details, so that could be done in Safe Mode if it's easy to access that in this situation.

Clarification is needed else we are simply guessing.

Early on, this was happening also to few others. It's possible you simply cannot see what is being typed because of a problem with the new "focus blur". After you power on and get to the signon screen, even if you cannot see the box, just type your password or PIN and press ENTER. It may log you in, and you can try to disable the blur.

I customised my "lock screen" and that's what was blurred. I don't log in. That's why I'm not quite on the same page as you

Just imagine a non-techie person going to all that trouble to set a picture of great sentimental value as their lock screen and then Microsoft go and blur it - what an insult

The lock screen alone being blurred would not stop someone using the PC. What has apparently caused problems for a few is the blurring of the background of the login screen - and that can be disabled in Settings as per the link I've posted.
