@ignatzatsonic: You are wasting your breath.

In another thread Pauly spent ten months asking question after question after question after question about how to buy a UPS.
And he ignored answer after answer after answer, only to pose new questions.

So here he is again. This time you're the victim.
You've written a tome of advice. Expect none of it to be followed.
Expect more questions ad nauseum. Expect frustration.

I did get the dell power bank after a long period of time. Yes i ask lot of questions. Im very indecisive when doing things. I want to make sure i do things right before i do it. When i first got my xps 15 9550, i did research but did not ask many questions when i bought it. I saw it has i5-6300hq quad core processor thats good enough. I saw it had 1 tb 7200rpm hard drive and a 32gb m.2 ssd so i just bought it b/c i figure go to repair shop and have them take out the 7200 rpm hard drive and put my old 250gb ssd and it was good. When he did it, i thought it was good. Then i go back home and find out everything downloaded straight to that 32gb m.2 ssd. I had to go back to repair shop and have them fix this... i had to pay more money for this. Also the guy who helped me do it, he's a good tech guy... he said he never seen a computer that had like 2 hard drives inside one like it was rare. Even sonic seems to find this strange setup.

Also when i bought a battery replacement for this laptop off ebay a while back ago... guess what happened? I went to the repair shop and brought it to that guy at repair shop only to find out that the battery was not compatible. I thought how is this possible... this is xps 15 9550 and he showed it was too long to fit in laptop and it was. I then go back to my home and find out there are 2 different batteries for the xps 15 9550, one that is smaller one 56wh and one that is either 84wh or 97wh. I had zero idea of this. I had bought the 84wh one. So i had to return it and buy the correct battery on ebay after waiting. Then when i got it, i went to repair shop and had them install it. And guess what happened? My computer would not turn on for like 30 minutes and he told me that is strange. He took my 250gb ssd and put it in his desktop pc to see if its the ssd but it recognizes it fine. Then i got concerned if my laptop suddenly not worked. But after a while, it suddenly turned on.

I did get a UPS... it took me a long time to get one. Also my situation is much different from most ppl because im not in the US now. And electronics are extremely expensive here. Also do you get power outages much? Do you need to be on your computer for a long time?

Have you ever been in another country and suddenly your computer stopped working? That happened to me a while back and the repair shop here... which is no where to as good as in the US took a look at it and told me its broke. And i could not get a similar laptop like this here. So i had to fly back to the US just to get a brand new laptop that is fast enough. Do not criticize people if you don't understand their situation. If i were to get the laptop i want here, the first issue is the language and keyboard of it would be different which is thus not what i wanted. Also the price would be at least 1.5x to double the price like in the US.

I am very unlucky when it comes to technology.

    Okay i have a 64gb usb stick.

I have a 1tb external hard drive. This only needs to the usb cable to my laptop.

I also have a 1tb 7200 rpm hard drive.that i put in an enclosure. Does that make sense? I would use the 1tb external hard drive as to where i want to back up the image and everything. The 1tb 7200 rpm hard drive i have i use to download tons of movies so i use that for personal use. I would not be putting anything into this hard drive for the windows 10 backup.

When i did not move any music files or anything to the 32gb m.2 ssd... it always read 29.7gb available of 29.7gb. So wouldn't that mean no code is in that m.2 hard drive? However one concern i have is... because its 32gb... wouldn't it showing 29.7gb mean 2.3gb is used for something? I assume not right since like a 64gb flash drive i have... when i got it new... only about 58gb is free out of 64gb even though its new and empty?

I remember when i first took my new laptop to repair shop and have the guy remove the 1tb 7200rpm and put in my old 2.5 inch 250gb ssd, the setup was like this. It would show either 232gb total available out of 232gb total.... and the 32gb m.2 hard drive showed like only 3gb or something ridiculous available out of the 29.7gb. Im not 100 percent sure on the 250gb whether it was 232gb free of 232gb total or if it was 210gb-220gb. Im however 100% sure that my 32gb m.2 ssd showed like under 3gb free of 29.7gb. When i went back to repair shop, he told me the reason for this was windows 10 was installed into the 32gb m.2 ssd instead of the 2.5 inch 250gb ssd. I don't know if he made a mistake with this since it was first time i think he saw 2 hard drives in one laptop... or he thought i wanted it this way. But obviously i wouldn't want it this way. So i had to have him fix this issue and put windows 10 on the 2.5 inch 250gb ssd and he did so. He also installed windows 10 pro for me as well.

Well if you want me to remove the m.2 ssd first and power on laptop to see if it works... i will do this in the US when i get back there. I won't do it here as i don't have the tools... and 2nd... i don't want to risk it getting damaged even if i bring it to repair shop here.

Yea the big thing here is making sure my laptop will be okay with this process. Again, this process is complicated because i have a smaller 250gb ssd that i bought years ago. I would not though i would need a bigger one back then. Now if i had a 500gb one now, i might or might not upgrade. The big issue with this is me not knowing this laptop came with the smaller 56wh battery when i bought it. Because say right now i had the 84wh or 97wh battery, well i would just be replacing a 250gb m.2 ssd to a 500gb or 1tb m.2 ssd instead so it would be much more simpler. Well i figure since i get bigger battery and bigger m.2 ssd, might as well upgrade the ram as well while at it.

I asked in the xps 15 9550 thread and someone reputable in that forum said NVMe is compatible.

Well i got the samsung 250gb ssd back many years ago. Back then i always had over 100gb free. Then as i used it for a while, i had less than 50gb less and even less. Well i figure if i want to keep this laptop for long time, might as well make it 1tb because i don't think i ever need a laptop with more than 1tb. And i also don't want later on when i suddenly have little gb left... now i need to upgrade it from 500gb to 1tb. So thats why i thought might as well upgrade it to the max so you don't have to think about it again.

Well how much memory does your computer currently use? Do you do any intensive things on it? Do you use chrome? I know my memory usage is like mid 80 to high 80 percent when i use it alot. I mean if your memory is always around there, should't you upgrade ram? When i don't have much chrome tabs it would go down a bit for memory.

You can download the service manual for the XPS 9550 at the above link.

It has about 12 pages of details on the hard drives and how to replace them.

    Also details on battery replacement.

You can also download a specifications PDF.

But you should get the service manual and study it until you are ready to actually open the laptop and look inside.

Or throw yourself on the mercy of a computer shop guy again.

Okay i will look at that manual a bit later. But if i open the laptop, i will only be doing this in the US.

The 32 gig m2 is a cache drive. Useless unless it is set up correctly. Some laptops have this drive in conjunction with a standard to make frequently used files to be cached for faster access.
