Right-Click on Desktop causes Infinite Loading

Whenever I Right-Click on my Desktop, the blue loading ring appears and no context menu appears. I've not got tablet mode on and I can right-click in other places like file explorer, just not the desktop.
Any help would be massively appreciated, Cheers!

Hi, if you create a new user for test purposes, does the same thing happen?

The context menu varies...with the context as you know. Could be a duff extension- normal practice is to start disabling extensions by using Shellexview (free) to see if there's any effect. You can disable all non-MS extensions and see if there's any change.

Try using these two approaches to reach a conclusion as to whether it's an extension issue or a Windows problem.

Note: Shellexview may not list all possible extensions- for a complete list, see Autoruns (free from MS) - some find this daunting. Note the various sections listed.

Thanks for the reply, I made a new user and the same problem still happens so I downloaded Shellexview but all the extensions are from Microsoft or Nvidia which have never caused any problems. Is there anything else I should try?

It sounds as if you have very little, if anything, installed. Is that the case?

    Note I also mentioned Autoruns.

If the problem started to occur recently, try using a System Restore point (if available).
If you use disk imaging as we so often recommend, restore a recently created disk image.

    Otherwise:

As you have the same problem with a new user, then if it is not a shell extension common to both, but Windows corruption, the next step would be an in-place upgrade repair install which keeps all progs and data and most settings.

What is your Windows build? Win key + r, winver.

You will need an iso of the same build and base language.

For hte current build, use MS's media creation tool to download an iso.
For older builds, search for Heidoc iso downloader.

Log in as normal, rt click the iso
    Mount it
Run setup.exe from the newly created drive.
