In the Search box type OSK and press Enter and use the On Screen Keyboard. If that works, it's not the computer that is at fault but your keyboard needs replaced
Many thanks good gentlemen.
It appears to be the keyboard.
I have been using an aluminum framed American gaming board which has built-in keys to change various things. Lights, sound et.
Fished out my old Dell keyboard, problem solved.
To stop this happening again should I decide to upgrade the keyboard, what should I look for?
Many thanks for your help.
Try the old Dell. If the keys are a bit sticky from sitting, you can take the cover off and use some Isopropyl Alcohol to get the gunk out.
