tried f8, f12. I think f8 use to work on win7. windows 10 on here now and those keys don't seem to work.
Booting into BIOS setup utility nothing to do with Windows operating system does your computer display which key to press to boot into BIOS setup utility?
does not show any keys to press for BIOS. use too when windows 7 was on here Im pretty sure.

Entering BIOS in Toshiba Tecra & Toshiba Satellite
Turn off your Toshiba laptop.
Wait 30 seconds and turn your laptop back on.
Press F2 key repetitively as soon as the Toshiba laptop begins booting until the BIOS menu screen appears.

I was able to get to Bios. still cant get the boot from CD to work. trying to boot a linux CD which I know works
Restart the computer and the instant you see the Toshiba logo, start tapping the F12 key. If this doesn't work, go into the BIOS setup, look for "Boot Order" or "Boot Configuration" and change the boot order so that the CD drive is above the hard drive. Be sure to save the change when exiting the setup screen.
Ben
which option here would be for the CD DVD drive?
hdd/sdd
usb memory
eSATA hdd
odd
usb odd
fdd
lan (its not this I know).
"odd" apparently stands for "Optical Disc Drive". Move that to the top. Be sure to save the change. You change it back afterwards if you want.
Ben
ODD is the CD drive. and I see was I was doing wrong. I was not changing the order of the boot items. lol. thanks. more rusty on this stuff than I thought. :)
