Got windows 7 pro and SP 1. Still no update popup?

    Hey there,

A long time ago I got a windows key through my workplace which I used on my home computer.. I know it's a valid key as I ran the genuine software test.

I also have Service pack one and it says that I have windows 7 professional -- so I know it's not enterprise.

But still I don't have any update popups.. and when I tried to run the manual installer I just got a "something happened 0x80070002 - 0x20016" and the program shuts down.

Anyone have any idea what's wrong?

    I just read this below:

If you don’t see the Get Windows 10 app (the small Windows icon in your system tray), it might be because:

    1. Your device isn’t up-to-date with at least Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8.1 Update
    2. Windows Update is turned off or is not set to received updates automatically
    3. You’ve blocked or uninstalled the necessary Windows Update functionality.
    4. Your device is not running genuine Windows
    5. Your device is running Windows 7 Enterprise, Windows 8/8.1 Enterprise, or Windows RT/RT 8.1, which are excluded from this reservation offer.
    6. Your device is managed as part of a school or business network. (Check with your IT administrator.)

Number 6 is definitely possible since the company I worked for was a part of a university. So it might have been a school key of some sort. Does that mean there is no way for me to update with this key?

    It should still install.
Try uninstalling any AV or security software. Do a sfc /scannow (admin) and try setting locale.

Thanks, don't have any AV or security running. SFC scan is 100% verified
