Start/Shutdown menu changed its default to "switch user"

A week or two ago, my Start/Shutdown menu changed its default from Shutdown to "switch user." Also, when I get the full shutdown menu, there is a new option to "update and restart." But there are no updates pending.

How can I get back to the standard shutdown menu, and also have the default option be Shutdown?

    Thanks for any suggestions.

What version of Win 10 do you have? Enter winver from the start menu or run box to see.

Where do you see that Windows Shutdown Menu? How do you bring it up? All I see when I shut down is this:

    Alt+F4 on the Desktop.

I thought the default from the drop-down menu was always the last one used.

    Ok, I see:

I think mine is the last used. Also, think you only see Update and Restart if there are updates pending. Used to be Update and Shutdown so at least they've given us the opportunity to shutdown without applying updates which I like very much. If I want to apply the updates than a Restart is appropriate.

On the other hand; I just used that Desktop Alt-F4 menu to Restart, and next time Shutdown was the default: So if it's sometimes last used, then it's not reliable.

Brink had a tutorial for Windows 7, but I can't find how to do the same in Windows 10:

"Switch user" has become my default, always, though I probably haven't used it in six months.

If I just click on Shut Down in the Start menu (not the popup to the right), I see:

I always choose Shut Down but the next time I still get Switch User.

As we can NOW see that you're using classic/open shell menu, I think you need to go to settings for that and use its Customize Start Menu tab and double-click ShutdownBoxItem.
