Machine freezes for a few seconds, spike in Network traffic

    Hello,
My Dell 5675 w Ryzen 7 sometimes freezes for a few seconds.
Shortly before it resumes, the fan starts cranking up.
There are no events in the Event Viewer, when I open the Task Manager I see no spike in Memory or CPU activity, but in Ethernet activity.

Hope someone has a hint what to look for.

    Thanks!

That could be a virus! (keeps on downloading stuff to your PC and to the server you are connected on. Happened to me a few years ago, check also your Explorer for strange folders!!!!)

Will keep an eye on resources and scan.

    Thanks for posting.
I usually poke around a lot in explorer, haven't noticed anything strange.
Will run a scan with different programs, keep the Resource Monitor open to see who it might be.

    Cheers

Does your Reliability History give any problems?Screen freezing can also be caused by the display driver playing up.If so,then Display Driver Uninstaller [DDU] used in safe mode, can be effective.

I think it's not that, the ethernet activity seems very suspicious... Still thinking of virus activity...

I found and removed some malware that was downloaded from website backups. Mainly located in the data drives, none in the OS drive. Will scan with other malware scanners again.
    Hang-up happened afterwards again.

The Reliability logs did not show anything related to the graphic adapter.

    Thanks!

Getting back to this thread - having tried everything. Graphics driver is the last version.
