    Legit Update or Virus?

i keep getting some weird update notification on my desktop, once a week ago, then a few mins ago.. it always says something about restarting and updating to stay in support. Windows has never notified me like this through the desktop, that's why i was not sure what to do with it. has anyone heard of this yet, or know if it's safe?

Post a screenshot of the message.

What Windows 10 version are you on [see Settings, System, About - the subsection on Windows specifications]?

Win 10 Home 1803. i already cleared the notification, but it also said something about support ends on a certain date, and update ends on a certain date.

Update - i found this image on google, that's what it looked like basically. like i said, i've never had Windows send me a update notification to my desktop, updates are usually automatic. i get really nervous when stuff like that just pops up out of the blue. you never what it could be, or where it came from

1803 was released in April 2018 and people who haven't updated to at least 1809 will most likely get that message.

Well, it is true that support for ver 1803 ends on 12 Nov 2019.

MS is nagging users of ver 1803 about updating - see Microsoft auto-updating Windows 10 version 1803 and earlier to 1903 - TenForums.

The picture you posted looks genuine enough but if you have ignored it you can just go to Settings, Update and, if the dialog was genuine, it will tell you there to take the same action.
    - If it had been malware, the act of dismissing the dialog would have initiated an attack. It is best to use task mgr to end any task or popup that you find suspicious.
