Safe to delete this reg key? ..CurrentVersion\AppModel\StateRepository

The is the full path of the registry item I was hoping someone could let me know if it's safe to delete as I'm having trouble with the Mail and Calendar app and noticed it had some items inside this.

Assuming it's a cache, then I would guess that it might be okay to remove.

    Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppModel\StateRepository\Cache

    Why would you need to?
    Is there a problem?

    This
error 0x8007042b when adding a Yahoo Mail account to MS Mail App

is a thread of mine and is somewhat related. But I thought it best to create a new thread for this specific Q.

I have a feeling that these type of keys may be causing the issue.

I'm using RegScanner to find lots of leftover microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps_8wekyb3d8bbwe values, data and keys.

    Code:
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppModel\StateRepository\Cache\PackageFamily\Data\4b	PackageFamilyName	REG_SZ	microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps_8wekyb3d8bbwe	19/07/2019 09:44:38	50

I would try Sfc /scannow and dism first

I don't normally use registry scanners if the don't back up the keys they are deleting first.
makes it easier to repair if I delete the wrong thing.
I also use Macrium reflect to image my drive often.
Deleting a cache key may cause mail or other programs associated with it to quit or fail to start.
Before deleting use export in regedit to export the key to your desktop where you can reinstall
it if necessary with a simple double click

Sfc /scannow and dism have been run multiple times in a row (which is said to help) with the aid of a batch file so I could just run that and leave it and this didn't come up with any issues or fix the problem.

Yes, this app is very powerful and can backup any selected items which is useful if you want to batch modify the registry and reimport it.

It also has regexp searching. Something windows have yet to implement in all of there apps. I can't think one which does.

I cannot delete that cache entry folder. I've even tried to add my user to the permissions but it won't allow it. I may have to start in safe mode.

I'm pretty much out of ideas . My search on on what the key works with or relates to
    came up empty.

    Sorry I couldn't help.

I even found a user id that's no longer part of the system in Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppModel\StateRepository\Cache \User\Data\4.

    UserSid\S-1-5-21-xxxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxx5-3358061339-1002

This does not come up when I use: wmic useraccount get name, sid in PowerShell.

I might ask on SuperUser as some windows dev guys might see that. Are there many on this do you know?
