    Top Apps

One of my PC's decided to wipe itself a few days ago so I reinstalled the very latest version of Win 10 Home.

One thing that interested me was the new search.

For me at least all the changes are pointless. It smacks tremendously of a bunch of managers trying to come up with ways to change something when it didn't need changing. I actually still prefer the search we had in very old versions of windows before indexing was introduced, but hey, heaven forbid that Microsoft would listen to customers. All they needed to do was add indexing to speed it up, but of course they completely changed the way it functioned in File Explorer. Anyway, back to the latest incarnation, I don't much care about the changes except that Top Apps is just ridiculous. A huge portion of my screen is taken up by something I don't want and really can't see any point in at all. But seems there is no way to disable it. I mean most of the features I managed to disable, but Top Apps is where I fail. I can't find a way to disable it. Has anyone found a way yet?

If I understand this correctly, in 1903, comparing the screenshots here
How to use Search instead of Cortana on Windows 10 May 2019 Update | Windows Central

above and below the text following
In this feature update, you'll find the same search filters like in previous versions, but with the difference that this time around, the "Apps" filter is getting an update with a new landing page that includes two lists that surfaces your frequent and most recent applications
whether Top apps appears depends on what you select of the top-most options.

If you're not bothered about content search, try one of the free search tools mentioned here - very very fast.

Just switch to Open-Shell and escape the adverts and other junk!

Ah unfortunately the settings crashes. I suspect this is because I have already disabled some of windows search functions manually. Never mind. Honestly I very rarely use the search function, I will just ignore the issues with it.

Yep. Disabling Indexing makes the setup crash, so I have temporarily enabled it again so I can make use of the new setup, then I will disable it again later, lol. The only thing the setup makes easy is disabling web search. But how do I get rid of the top apps display? I mean it's just useless and takes up half the screen now.
