Sort and group files types by extension

Is there anyway to teach windows to group same type files, ie .jpg/.png and .avi/.mkv/.mp4 together?

When I sort my media folder by type, i end up with .mp4 files being sandwiched between jpg and pngs

Please dont tell me to make additional folders, I have my own reasons and I would like to be able to scroll to the bottom to find any videos related to the folder topic instead of needing to find them somewhere in the middle.

    Thanks

Sort by extension doesn't group by type (images, movies etc)
I would create sub folders by type and move the files to them.
Under libraries you can add those folders to a specific library (Pictures, Videos etc)

I am looking for a way to make it so window groups same types of media together, either by some setting or 3rd party, I know its a weird request but this minor inconvenience has annoyed me for sometime.

I would highly prefer NOT to make subfolders because i am already filing stuff from another higher level (ie. i'm going from download folder > genre, then sort to individual projects)

Not sure if it is useful to you, but one possibility is a hard drive search tool such as Everything from voidtools.com

Suppose you had a folder named "Elvis" that contained mp4s, jpegs, tiffs, docs, wmvs, etc.

You could then enter ".mp4" as a search term into Everything and it would immediately show all files anywhere on your hard drive with ".mp4" in the file name. You could then immediately sort those mp4s by path (folder) and see which of them were actually in the "Elvis" folder. Files in the Elvis folder with some other extension would not appear at all. The whole operation might take 5 seconds.

I use Everything 5 or 10 times every day. It works directly off file names, so results are nearly instantaneous.

Add the 'Kind' column to the folder & Group on that:
