How To Enter Unicode in Win10?

I want to use unicode characters and can only find one way to do it: copy and paste from a char display.

Better if I can input a number the same way we input ascii codes using Alt first.

I got this from a good site about the codes but it doesn't explain how to input them. Only copy and paste.

So here's like an example of a code I'd like to input and the symbol it codes for:

There's the Symbol and then the Hex code and then the decimal code.

Hmmm...... that didn't quite work... it took the decimal code and changed it to the symbol....

Perhaps I should wrap it all in code tags...

edit: ho ho... it did the same thing even inside code tags. Well the decimal code was ampersand, hash, 9837.

Unicode is not the problem. You just need the proper keyboard.

If you want to type accented French characters, get a French keyboard.
If you want to type accepted German characters, get a German keyboard.

If you want to type all of the million Unicode-defined characters ... well, there's no keyboard for that.
You don't really expect a keyboard with every emoji, right?

The fact that you can easily enter emojis but not the symbol for pi tells you all you need to know about Microsoft.

The character map is a pain. I have a txt file with math symbols - pi, roots, fractions, degree symbol etc, and I paste from there.

can't you just enter as normal text into say using notepad and then in the save as choose the format -- any of the appropriate UTF choices.

The point is that you cannot easily type characters that are not on your keyboard.
