PC turning itself on after Windows 10 upgrade.

It just kind of randomly stopped happening for this system. Maybe an update fixed it, dunno.

Windows 8/8.1/10 have a hybrid sleep/power off to allow it to boot faster. To legitimately shut down your pc, hold shift when you click on power off until it suits down. I was having the same problem and that did it for me, hope it works for you.

If you are still looking for a solution after trying all the previous ones, do you have an Intel chipset motherboard? If so, you need to go in to Device Manager and find Intel Management Engine. Right click on it, choose properties, and on the last tab, uncheck any of the power options.

My wife and I each have new Pavilion x360 laptops, and we had to do this on both. Intel is aware of the issue and should be updating the drivers soon.

I've had the same problem with powering on when shutdown. I have cured the problem for me by creating a new user account as administrator, and in my case without a password or logging in with my windows live user ID (or microsoft user account). Go to START, SETTINGS, FAMILY AND OTHER USERS, ADD SOMEONE ELSE TO THIS PC< click on I dont have the persons sign in information, click next and just enter add user without microsoft account, enter users name and password if required.

I forgot about this thread haha. I've since decided to give up in general on Windows 10, on my way do disowning Microsoft all together. In my experience 10 is nothing but problems. Add that to its intrusiveness and I want no part of it. I'll be sticking with 7 and learning Linux in the meantime. I'm already loving Linux Mint. The only reason I've even booted into 7 lately is to play a game here and there.

2. Open Network Adapter Tree
3. Right-click your network adapter
4. Select "Properties"
5. Go to the "Advanced" tab
6. Select "Wake on Magic Packet"
7. I bet it says "Enable"

Yes, even if you went to "Network and Sharing Center" then clicked "Change adapter settings" and right-clicked and selected "Properties", under the "Power Management" tab it will have appeared as though that option was not highlighted. At least, that is true for my Lenovo Yoga with Realtek Wireless LAN.

I just tried this remedy, as I have the problem, so I do not know if this will work.

I'm hoping my experience can be corroborated. If you first go through the "Network and Sharing Center" route, I bet you will find the "Wake on Magic Packet" option grayed out. However, if you try the steps in my post above, I bet it will say that "Wake on Magic Packet" is "Enabled".

There was a conflict with my computer. Unfortunately, I don't have any other Windows 10 computers on which to test this theory.

I had the problem when the windows was about to update (when it downloaded the updates and it needed to restart). I think I found the solution:
go to Task scheduler >Task scheduler library>Microsoft>windows>UpdateOrchestrator>Reboot
then double click and go to "conditions >power>" and uncheck awake the computer to run this task.
